About This Vintage Toy

Battle Cat, also known as Cringer, is a sizeable cat-like creature in the Masters of the Universe franchise. As Cringer, he is Prince Adam’s pet feline companion. As Cringer, the feline-like animal is a timid and cowardly being; opposite to the heroic version, he transforms into as Battle Cat. Whenever Adam transforms into He-Man, using the Eturinan Power Sword, Cringer is also transformed into the mighty and fearless Battle Cat.

When as Battle Cat, He-Man often utilizes battle cats riding mount saddles to navigate the realm of Eternia and engage in Battle quickly.

Mattel’s Battle Cat action beast used a recycled mold in manufacturing from a previous 1970s Big Jim Toy line to save on additional cost and tooling expenses while adding another much-needed vehicle to the first series. The Big Jim Version of the cat mold featured an orange and black striped tiger of the same Battle Cat mold that included a cage. The 1982 Masters of the Universe Battle Cat version was repainted Green with yellow stripes and featured a reddish maroon-colored saddle and removable battle headgear.
