Fortress of Fangs

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Evil Dungeon

About This Vintage Toy

The Fortress of Fangs is packed with exciting fantasy-based play features, and being the only playset in the series, it was the centerpiece for the LJN Advanced Dungeons & Dragons toy line. The set featured a “Flying Evil Creature Throne” that would take flight over top the fortress to engage oncoming fortress invaders or treasure seekers. Once inside the fortress, an arsenal of traps was set to challenge any who dared to enter. A secret trap door, moving wall of spikes, falling hatchet, lava pit, dungeon cage, and catapult platform provided strong defenses against any who dared to penetrate the evil fortress. Additional features like a hidden pull-out ladder, weapons rack to store unused accessories, and hidden slide leading the stronghold’s treasure room makes for the perfect reward to anyone brave enough to advance the treacherous keep.

The Fortress of Fangs stood about 16 inches tall and was a 14-inch x 14-inch square-shaped set. The set did not include any action figures and required detail of assembly. The epic packaging art was reminiscent of the classic artwork found in TSR’s Dungeons & Dragons publications making it highly appropriate to all D&D expectations. A second “Snake Cave Playset” playset/caring case was rumored to be prototyped; however, it was never manufactured and available for retail.
