Cairo Swordsman

The Adventures of Indiana Jones Action Figure

About This Vintage Toy

Produced by Kenner in 1982, there were 5 total 3.75′′ action figures released in series 1. The Cairo Swordsman served as one of the most popular villains in Raiders of the Lost Arc in the infamous scene where Indy pulls a gun on our hapless sword-bearer (which Harrison Ford insisted upon as he was sick that day). The action figure featured 7 points of articulation including the neck, shoulders, hips, and both knees. The Cairo Swordsman action figure featured a cotton robe, sword, and dagger; plenty to overwhelm a similarly equipped foe. This action figure played as a mid-boss in the full set, valiantly protecting whatever a child may not find suitable in a museum! Collectors may find sun-bleached robes, blemishes and paint removal, and broken thumbs on this figure.

The action figure came with a black robe, red sash, sword, and knife. The robe encompassed the swordsman’s full body, wrapped with a red sash, while the sword and knife fit into the sash. The value of the accessories alone is often worth more than the figure itself, Depending on the mint condition of the action figure.

Packaging Back

The original card back featured a 4 back “collect them all” Advertisement on the back of the card and also displayed additional optional playsets available to purchase. Also, the original series one release displayed a free “mail away” action figure offer which was available with several Kenner proof of purchase. This particular offer for a series one was for a free mail-away version of the Belloq action figure in a ceremonial robe. NOTE: Collectors that have the original card back offer increased value to the collectible. (MWC = Mint with card) If the card back still has a bubble intact, that also increases the value. If the action figure is factory sealed on the original card, (MOC= Mint on card) then collectors can obtain the most value from that particular item.
